Relationships

Picture
Relationships are perhaps the one area of life that elicit the most clichés and truisms from well-meaning people: relationships are hard work; or, relationships are like plants - they need tending, and so on. Many of these statements have some truth to them, but it is often superficial, and rarely do they provide much help for those in the midst of relationship difficulties. While they can require hard work, and they do need tending, each relationship comes with its unique history, and each person in the relationship has their own unique personality and needs that warrant consideration. Our experts at SALT understand.

"Love is the only sane and satisfactory answer
to the problem of human existence."

-Erich Fromm

There are many theoretical frameworks of relationship therapy. Some relationships respond better to certain methods more so than others, but they all generally work by promoting respectful and clear communication, awareness of oneself and partner, and healthy boundary setting. While understanding the conflict within your relationship is important, relationship therapy is not about casting blame in any direction; rather, it is about understanding the patterns that keep you stuck, and helping you create a secure connection with each other through renewed trust, increased knowledge, and the cultivation of effective skills.

We at SALT understand the value of having a strong, healthy relationship with your partner. We also understand that nearly all relationships go through challenging times, and that the relationships that thrive are those that develop the tools to build a shared vision. Our team of therapists have extensive training to help you and your partner achieve your vision. Reach out today to learn more or to set up an initial consultation!
